African dance / Madagascar

On Friday and Saturday we have a chance to dance with Njara from Madagascar! His African dance classes combine movements from different parts of Africa, but of course with a lot of Madagascar spices. The class suits best dancers, who already have some experience in African dance.

Njara Rasolomanana

Njara Rasolomanana is a versatile dancer and choreographer, who has over ten years of professional experience in street dance. As a dancer Njara has toured in different parts of Europe and Africa. He has also taught almost all styles of street dance and has led two dance companies in Tanzania and Madagascar. In his prize-winning choreographies he also combines traditional African dance to street dance. He is an encouraging, friendly and energetic teacher, who always puts emphasis on the joy of dancing. Street dance

Get to know different styles of street dance in this fun class! The name street dance covers many kinds of styles and techniques, such as hip hop, locking, popping and break dance. In this class, you can get to know some of them, and there will probably be some influences of other styles, too. The most important thing is to get up and dance!

Tricking

If you are interested in acrobatics, do not miss this workshop! Tricking combines acrobatics with different martial arts and street dance styles, and it is often performed with music. At the workshop, you will hear more about this amazing art, and you will learn basics of acrobatics, martial arts kicks, cartwheels, rolls etc.

Please note that this workshop will be held at the Atalpa building of the University of Tampere!

Unito

The workshop will be taught by members of the Unito group, who are pioneers of tricking in Finland. They have presented their skills e.g. on the TV show Talent in 2010. Since then the group has toured the world in different competitions and events, of course also on Finnish stages. Read more on Unito’s website.
