Fest Afrika 2019 has started!
Fest Afrika 2019 started with a fire dance workshop which culminated in a great fire show at Ratina shopping centre! This is the last moment to enrol yourself in on one of the dance workshops and buy the tickets to the weekend concerts. Don’t forget to come and see the dance show at Laikunlava and join the kickoff party at Jerun piilopaikka on Thursday – both free of charge. See you at the festival!

Festival Market

Fest Afrika festival market will be a joyful meeting place for anyone interested in African cultures, beautiful things and good food! Also the traditional open stage event will take place at the market – and there will be program for kids on both days!
There are arts and crafts as well as fabrics, jewelry and textiles for sale from Western and Eastern Africa. The food on sale is also both from Eastern and Western parts of the continent.Some of the organizations present are

Children’s program
There is a children’s tent with different activities, including a non-stop jewelry workshop with the Tanzanian artist Neema Mjengwa, on both days. In addition, on Saturday there is special program for children.
SAMI’S SAMBA WORKSHOP Saturday 6th July 12:00hes to 12:50hrs
This is a workshop both for children and parents. Ona a journey to Brazil and Africa, the participants will get to know the Afro-Brazilian rhythms by clapping, playing and stepping together. After one hour you will feel refreshed because playing together is fun! Welcome! You can bring your shy mum or dad if you want. Own instruments not needed but welcome!
TUTU CHILDREN’S CONCERT Saturday 6th July 13:00hrs to 13:50hrs
The band Tutu will take children and child-minded on a trip to different parts of the world. The stories are exiting and even funny if you listen carefully. The audience will be taken aboard on the trip so you need to take energy and a magic drink in your bag with you. Let’s go, and take your mum, dad and grandparents along!

Best suited for the market are performances that do not need amplification or only needs simple equipment (e.g. for playing background music).
