Ngoma drum-making course

The ngoma is a Tanzanian drum and the the most popular drum in East Africa. It can be played by drum stick or by hands. The ngoma is made with cow skin and a metal frame, with skin on both sides, up and down. During the first day of the workshop, we will discuss the culture related to the ngoma tradition, also explaining how the drum is constructed, prepare the materials, cut them ready for making the drum on the second day. A ngoma takes about one week to dry so that it will be ready to be used. In this workshop, all the materials will be provided, and the price of the whole workshop includes the materials for making a drum, and of course the instructions needed, as well as practical help in building the ngoma drum. No previous experience is necessary!
