Frankosun & The Family
Frankosun and the Family is a brother- and sisterhood of Finnish and African musicians. It combines such musical styles as rumba, afrobeat, salsa, jazz and reggae.
The leader of the pack, Frankosun, is also known as Franck Koumolou. He hails from Benin, the country that gave us voodoo. Koumolou was born in the Nago tribe that is associated with voodoo rhytms and masks. Their origins are the Egoun goun, Zangbeto, Guèlède and Tchango cultures. Frank Koumolou says that his music is inspired by dreams.
Koumolou got interested in the traditions mentioned and studied also several musical styles. Thanks to this he also developed a versatile singing voice. Frankosun started playing djembe while in elementary and played several festivals at a young age. Frankosun is also a skillful afro and hip-hop dancer. He’s won many dance contests in Benin.
